Government Requirements for Residence
- All students accepted and re-enrolled to SSIS must abide by the following Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SHMEC) guidelines:
- Student must hold “Z” visas and residency permit and reside in Shanghai with at least one parent.
- Students, as well as one parent must hold a foreign passport and at least one parent must be working in Shanghai with a valid work permit.
- If one parent is working outside Shanghai but home is in Shanghai then at least one parent must live with the student.
- Students are not allowed to study under guardianship placements.
- Macau and Hong Kong passport holders are considered foreign passports but students and both parents must hold permanent residency in these countries.
- Taiwan passports are not recognized as proof of foreign status. All students and parents from Taiwan must have a Taiwan ID or Taiwan Return documentation in order for students to attend.
