Welcome to Shanghai Singapore International School!

Thank you for your interest in SSIS. We are pleased you are considering becoming a part of our learning community and on behalf of the SSIS Community, welcome to Shanghai!

While we know that applying to a new school can be time-consuming, we want you to know that we are always available to answer your questions and, in so doing, to help you expedite your family’s admission process.

Government Requirements for Residence

  • All students accepted and re-enrolled to SSIS must abide by the following Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SHMEC) guidelines:
  • Student must hold “Z” visas and residency permit and reside in Shanghai with at least one parent.
  • Students, as well as one parent must hold a foreign passport and at least one parent must be working in Shanghai with a valid work permit.
  • If one parent is working outside Shanghai but home is in Shanghai then at least one parent must live with the student.
  • Students are not allowed to study under guardianship placements.
  • Macau and Hong Kong passport holders are considered foreign passports but students and both parents must hold permanent residency in these countries.
  • Taiwan passports are not recognized as proof of foreign status. All students and parents from Taiwan must have a Taiwan ID or Taiwan Return documentation in order for students to attend.
