Features of SSIS Drama Programme
This year, our Drama program is working closely with other Departments in the School such as Pupil Welfare and Music.Year One
Using a series of Drama games, we engage the students’ innate sense of play, and work to begin the harnessing of their imaginations in a positive, productive manner.
Year Two
Through improvisation and drama games, we utilize the students’ awareness of their environment to create scenes and further equip them with the skills to channel their creativity.
Years Three and Four
During this time, the children are constantly creating short pieces of theatre based on the Values imbued by Pupil Welfare. They will discuss, appreciate, rehearse, develop scenes and perform them for their class and schoolmates.
Year Five
In their penultimate year with us, the students work on devised and scripted pieces specially crafted for the various Festivals that we celebrate in school such as Christmas, Easter and Chinese New Year. At the end of the year there will be numerous platforms for the students to showcase the skills they have acquired in their drama lessons.
Year Six
P6 is an important year in any student’s development, and so the focus here is two-fold.
We will help students to think deep into their dreams and hopes for the future. They will be guided through the process of transforming these into actions to realize their dreams. At the same time, they look at the world that they will inherit. What do they love about it, and how would they change it? Are they happy with their legacy? How can each of them be the instrument for change?
Over the course of the year, the P6 students reflect, devise two pieces based on these themes, and perform them for the School.
